Ealing Equality Council
Ealing Equality Council (EEC)
provides advice, support and training to disadvantaged minority communities in the London Borough of Ealing. This includes assistance with welfare, housing, debt and employment.
EEC were awarded £9,300 at the beginning of 2015 to set up an IT suite to provide IT training and job application support to the local BME community. In addition to training individuals in using different IT programmes, CV writing and online job applications, the suite will also give staff and volunteers the opportunity to gain skills in training and assisting with CV preparation through a ‘buddy scheme’.
Since setting up the IT Suite, over 100 individuals have benefitted from training and use if IT facilities and 21 people have been trained and assisted to enter the job market. EEC have also specifically trained individuals from the community to use IT equipment and the website so that they can deliver telephone and web-based support to others.
