provides holidays to families caring for children with long term and life limiting illnesses. They found through personal experience and research that families with disabled children need a holiday, like any other family, but organising one can be difficult. Families found it a challenge to take their children with them. The charity now offers a space for families to relax together in accommodation that is suitably adapted and equipped to meet their child’s physical needs.
Ellie’s Haven were awarded £25,000 in 2014 to purchase their building and refurbish it to provide respite accommodation. The building was officially opened in September 2015 and they are fully booked in the summer months of this year and have reservations stretching into 2017! They have also been able to offer sensory studio sessions to families nearby and have started creating links with local organisations they can provide support to. They are now looking into therapists that could come in to provide therapies to guests.
