The Cedarwood Trust
support the disadvantaged community from Meadow Well Estate of North Tyneside. Primarily focusing on older people and disadvantaged young people in the area.
The Foundation awarded a grant of £6,100 out of a £9009 total project cost towards refurbishment of a training kitchen. This helps to continue and expand the ‘Soup-a Gran’ project by providing food and company for isolated older people from the Estate.
The kitchen opened in December 2016 at the launch of the new Centre and since then, the kitchen has been a great success. The facility enables the community volunteers to cook and develop their skills. Breakfast, lunches and meals are made for isolated older people on a daily basis. Cedarwood Trust have, so far, provided catering for over 4 major events and delivered over 40 meals on a weekly basis.
