provides support to bereaved children and young people throughout Norfolk. The charity provides a range of services, tailored to each child’s individual needs, and includes telephone support and guidance, information and resources, family and group events, one to one therapeutic support, activity days and residential weekends.
Nelson’s Journey were awarded £50,000 in 2013 to assist with the purchase and furnishing of a new building to provide increased office and meeting accommodation space. It also provided space to hold a wider range of therapeutic activities, peer support sessions and training sessions.
Since the opening of the building, beneficiaries have described how it, ‘has a very personal home-like comfort to it’
along with a ‘very safe and calming atmosphere.’
Furthermore, as there are now appropriate facilities on site, Child Bereavement Support Workers are required to travel less and thus have more time available to support beneficiaries. The new building has also provided good publicity for the charity as beneficiaries and professionals have been spreading the news of their positive experiences using the new facilities.
